Arrived in the Blue Mountains in 1977. Robyn and I purchased the old Westpac bank building in the Mall Leura and commenced trading as Leura Healthfoods.
In 1980 started the newspaper Blue Mountains Echo which was later sold to Consolidated press. I then joined Carroll & Cavanough R/E as a business broker and purchased the business in 1984.
Traded successfully until rebadging the business and expanding into larger premises in 2000 at the bottom of Katoomba St as The 1 Stop Property Shop. I sold the business and retained the business broking aspect, which I still run now, as well as operating coin laundromats and a storage business with my son Kirby. During my time in the mountains I have been involved with the community founding the Leura Village Association, re establishing the Chamber of Commerce in Katoomba. By far the most rewarding task of all was in assisting Robyn in establishing Cancer Wellness Support in 2005 and being able to help provide much needed services to our community as a Board Member since its inception.
