What started as a major store refurbishment at David Jones Chatswood Chase became something far more meaningful for Cancer Wellness Support.
Through Project Revitalise, Cancer Wellness Support joined forces with Forward Thinking Design, Mainbrace Construction, Froggies Pickup & Delivery Service, and Penrith Lock-Up Storage Units to ensure quality fixtures and fittings were given a meaningful second life.
Instead of heading to landfill, these items have been repurposed to upgrade our Op Shops in Katoomba and Penrith, turning waste into opportunity, and sustainability into community support.
Across two massive 12-hour days, our dedicated staff and volunteers rolled up their sleeves to dismantle, transport, and repurpose five truckloads of materials. From shelving and cabinetry to displays and furniture, every piece found a new home, helping us refresh and enhance our shops for the benefit of our customers, supporters, and community.
The results speak for themselves: our upgraded Op Shops are now brighter, more functional, and more welcoming than ever before — spaces that truly reflect the care and warmth at the heart of our organisation.

Our Op Shops are at the heart of our circular economy in action, where pre-loved items are given new life to help people living with cancer.
Every donation, purchase, and volunteer hour helps turn what might otherwise go to waste into vital funding for affordable therapies and support services for local people living with cancer and their families.
Our Katoomba and Penrith Op Shops are vibrant community hubs connecting shoppers, donors, and volunteers in a shared purpose of sustainability and compassion.
By revitalising our Op Shops, we’re creating brighter, more functional spaces and strengthening the very foundations that allow Cancer Wellness Support to continue delivering our purpose.

Project Revitalise shows what’s possible when businesses, trades, and community organisations come together with a shared vision. By reusing and repurposing quality materials, we’ve reduced waste, saved resources, and created something lasting.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in Project Revitalise and our incredible team of staff and volunteers. Your hard work and generosity have helped ensure that Cancer Wellness Support can continue to provide essential, person-centred cancer care to those who need it most.
