Our Story and Purpose

Affordable, person-centred cancer care delivered through the generosity and power of community.

The power of one

Established by Robyn Yates OAM in 2005, we are a locally based, not-for-profit organisation servicing the Blue Mountains, Penrith and Hawkesbury regions.

We are an innovative, compassionate, community-driven organisation that provides holistic, person-centred care.
We support cancer clients and their families in retaining their sense of control and balance, whilst at all times giving hope to those in challenging circumstances.
In 2022-2023, we delivered 5,060 complementary therapies to our clients and carers as well as holistic education, wellness retreats and group programs.
We have been 100% self-funded since inception through our op shops, fundraising activities and the generosity of our community.

Our why

When a person has received a cancer diagnosis, the last thing we want anyone to be feeling is the financial stress of not being able to seek the support that they need.
Did you know?

In Australia, up to two-thirds of individuals living with cancer incorporate complementary therapies into their treatment journey (Cancer Council Australia).

Financial constraints hinder 82% of people living with cancer from pursuing these therapies, with 50% citing it as their sole constraint (National Institute of Complementary Medicine).

Cancer Wellness Support steps in to bridge these gaps, underpinned by 3 core pillars:

Affordable and accessible complementary therapies

Environmental sustainability
