What an incredible day we had at our Drive for Wellness Charity Golf Day, held at Leonay Golf Club on Friday 8 May. Bringing together keen golfers for a relaxed and feel-good day on the green, everyone was united by generosity and a shared commitment to supporting local people and families living with cancer.
From the opening shot putt challenge to the laughter echoing between carts as players travelled from hole to hole, the course was filled with connection, hope and community spirit.
We were honoured to welcome Penrith Mayor Councillor Todd Carney, State MP Karen McKeown OAM, Federal MP Susan Templeman, CWS Chair Judith Field, and CWS Treasurer Paul Harris, whose presence and support meant a great deal to everyone involved.

With demand for cancer support services continuing to grow, particularly in Penrith, this event plays a vital role in ensuring support remains affordable and accessible. Every swing, sponsorship and sign-up has helped to expand services, strengthen lymphoedema care, and ensure more local families can access care when they need it most.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we are proud to announce that $18,537 was raised for our Capacity Building Fund.
On the day, we were excited to announce our new Penrith Wellness Centre, with everyone joining the celebrations of CWS signing of the lease on the very same day. As the first tangible outcome of our Capacity Building Fund, our new Centre enables us to almost double our capacity in Penrith, helping us support even more people and families living with cancer.
CWS client Greg Farmilio also spoke more of his journey since 2023 while navigating living with stage 4 cancer, sharing more about the deeply impactful support and connection that he has found at CWS through counselling and with the Metastatic Support Group. Greg shared “From the moment you walk into CWS, it just feels very comfortable and relaxing. Nothing feels too difficult or too dark. There’s such wonderful support, and the staff and therapists are a true treasure.”

A very special thank you goes to our Event Sponsor, Stowe Australia, whose support helped make this event possible. Adam Ingleton, Branch Manager from Stowe Australia said:
“Being part of the Penrith community means getting behind causes that genuinely make a difference locally. Cancer Wellness Support does incredible work for individuals and families facing cancer, and we’re really proud to play our part in supporting that. With a few keen golfers in our Penrith team, the Drive for Wellness Golf Day felt like a chance to support a great cause while bringing our clients together for a day everyone can enjoy.”
We are deeply grateful to our Hole Sponsors, Prize Sponsors and Media Partners, whose ongoing partnership continues to strengthen our ability to deliver vital services. A heartfelt thank you to Leonay Golf Club for their wonderful support on the day, and to My88FM for their generosity in doubling our advertising package. From local businesses to generous prize donors, the incredible support behind this event truly reflects the power of community coming together.
Thank you to everyone who played, sponsored, bought a virtual round, and supported Cancer Wellness Support. Your impact is already being felt.
