Leading the Way in Affordable and Accessible Cancer Care

With the latest health reports and research, the reason Cancer Wellness Support began in 2005, still remains strong today.

Australia’s 2024 Health Report shares that with earlier cancer detection, longer life expectancy, and better health outcomes, more people are living with cancer for longer periods.

The WHO recently highlighted the urgent need for cancer support services due to rapidly increasing cancer rates, with a 77% rise expected by 2050.

Research from the Medical Journal of Australia shows that more than half of people diagnosed with cancer in the previous two years had annual out-of-pocket costs higher than $1000, and almost one in ten had costs over $10,000.

In a collaboration between Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Swinburne University, the Australian Carers Talk Study it found that approximately one-third of informal carers in Australia spend up to 40 hours a week caregiving, contributing to an estimated 1.9 billion hours of unpaid care.

Despite the numerous challenges for cancer care across Australia, Cancer Wellness Support is proud to be here for its community and to lead the way in how it approaches it to make it affordable and accessible for both individuals and their families.
