Stronger Together: Our 2025 Lindsay Award for Community Service

We are deeply honoured to share that Cancer Wellness Support has received the 2025 Lindsay Award for Community Service. While our name may be on the award, its heart belongs to our community.

This recognition is for our volunteers, therapists, staff and Board. It belongs to our clients and carers, to our strategic partners, donors and Op Shop supporters, and to every person who has walked alongside someone affected by cancer with kindness and care.

The evening itself was a beautiful reminder of the strength and generosity that lives in our region. With 91 finalists across 12 award categories, each story reflected a shared commitment to helping others and strengthening community.

We were proud to stand alongside so many inspiring organisations and individuals, and extend a heartfelt congratulations to Penrith RSL, TOTS Blanket Challenge, Penrith South Netball Club, Rapid Relief Team Penrith and Emu Plains, Mama Lana’s Community Foundation, Woodchix Foundation, St Marys Outpost, Nepean Community College, RuffTRACK  and Dress for Success Penrith, who were also recognised on the night. Each of you makes a powerful difference every single day.

We are especially grateful to Melissa McIntosh MP, Federal Member for Lindsay, for her dedication to celebrating local businesses, community service and volunteering. Her words captured the spirit of the evening so beautifully:

“There are so many people in our community who quietly go about driving change by humbly helping others, or who strive for excellence to put our community on Australia’s national stage. I am honoured to serve the best community in the country. The Lindsay Awards are my way of recognising those who tirelessly make our community the beating heart of western Sydney.”

Our sincere thanks also go to The Log Cabin Hotel for hosting such a warm and welcoming evening, and to the judges for the time, care and consideration given to these awards. It truly meant so much to be part of such a special night.

Most of all, thank you — for believing in compassionate, community-led cancer care and for being part of something bigger than any one organisation.

Whether you volunteer, donate, shop at our Op Shops, partner with us, or simply share our work with others, you help ensure that no one in our community has to face cancer alone.
